The Hospice Foundation of Acadiana was created in 1996 to carry out fundraising activities in support of services provided by Hospice of Acadiana. Among those activities is the annual membership campaign. The Hospice Foundation of Acadiana is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Therefore, charitable contributions made to the Hospice Foundation of Acadiana are tax deductible.

Memorials. These are contributions by individuals, organizations, or businesses that are made in memory of or in honor of loved ones. Often, but not always, the person being memorialized was a patient of Hospice of Acadiana. Please click here to make a memorial donation.
 
Membership (Friends for Life).
Friends for life is the membership society of hospice supporters. Members share the commitment of Hospice of Acadiana to enabling persons with life-threatening conditions to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Click here to join.

Donations. Contributions by individuals, organizations, or businesses that are not linked to a memorial. Donations may be the result of direct telephone or personal solicitation by the Foundation or they may be initiated entirely by the donor. Except in cases where an appeal is made for a specific purpose, donors will have the option of making an unrestricted gift or designating a gift for one of the nine areas of Hospice programs and services that the Foundation will seek to fund.  Please click here to make a donation.

The Hospice Foundation of Acadiana has identified several focus areas for funding. Donors may choose to designate their gifts for one of the following areas or may leave their donation unrestricted.
 
Indigent Patient Care. Patient services for persons not eligible for Medicare, not covered by private insurance, and having no other means of paying for hospice services. These services will include visits by physicians, registered nurses, home health aides, social workers, and chaplains and assistance with medications, medical supplies, and medical equipment. Hospice of Acadiana has distinguished itself by being the only hospice in the state of Louisiana never to turn any patient away because of inability to pay.

Bereavement program. Support for a program of individual and group counseling to surviving members of hospice families

Professional Education. To foster increased awareness and knowledge of hospice among physicians, nurses, social workers and other workers on health care and relates fields.

Patient/Family Education. Training on topics such as advanced medical directives, infection control, medication safety, nutrition, physical signs and symptoms, stress management, and caring for the caregiver.

Volunteer Programs. To provide continuing in-service education to hospice volunteers.

HeartPrints Program. Services for children from birth to age 19 with a life-threatening condition and their families.

Improving Care Programs. Provides a case management approach of education and support for patients not eligible for hospice services.

Camp Brave Hearts. Provides support for children who are faced with the challenges of grief thru a two-day summer camp.
